An interview with Stephanie Marquesano, founder of the Harris Project

June 17th, 2016

Stephanie Marquesano and her family worked for years to find proper treatment for her son Harris, who struggled with co-occurring disorders, which is where substance abuse and mental health disorders occur simultaneously.  When Harris died of a drug overdose after a failed stint in rehab, Stephanie founded the Harris Project, a New York non-profit focused on changing the treatment model and the public's understanding for co-occurring disorders.  Believing the current system is ill prepared to meet the needs of today's youth, Stephanie has made it her full time job to educate youth and parents, and change the way our health system treats mental health and substance abuse.
